Sticklers™ Fiber Optic Cleaners Approved by Openreach

MicroCare Corporation announced today that the Sticklers™ fiber optic cleaners have been approved for use by Openreach Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of BT Group. Openreach maintains the telephone and fiber cables that connect nearly all the homes and businesses in the United Kingdom to the national telephone and broadband network.

Openreach field telecommunications engineers will use Sticklers Fiber Optic Cleaners, including the CleanClicker™ Fiber Optic Cleaners as part of their multi-billion pound “Fibre First” program to install and maintain the physical high-speed fiber broadband network throughout the UK using FTTP (fiber to the premises) technology. The Openreach target is to connect four million premises by March of 2021.

Helping the telecommunications engineers in the field to get the job done is a unique portable Sticklers field cleaning kit. The kit includes the nonflammable, Travel-Safe™ Sticklers Fiber Optic Splice & Connector Cleaner Cleaning Fluid, Sticklers Clean Wipes Optical Grade Wipes, Sticklers CleanClicker™ Fiber Optic Connector Cleaners and Sticklers CleanStixx™ Connector Cleaning Sticks.

“The cleaning kit contains everything field engineers require to clean fiber optic connectors and splices quickly and effectively in the field,” said Liam Taylor, MicroCare European Business Manager, Fiber Optics. “The tools and cleaning fluids help provide Openreach engineers complete reassurance when cleaning fiber optics.”

In addition to the kits, the Sticklers team provided Openreach with a series of instructional “how-to” videos to help their field telecommunications engineers become familiar with the Sticklers fiber optic cleaners. The videos provide helpful tips and best practice recommendations for connector cleaning and fusion splicing preparation. It includes all the information engineers need to achieve perfectly clean splices and connectors.
