MicroCare Introduces FRC2 General Purpose Flux Remover

MicroCare has introduced FRC2 General Purpose Flux Remover, a next-generation, HFC-free cleaner designed to deliver effective, reliable removal of no-clean and rosin fluxes from electronic assemblies and components.

FRC2 replaces the MicroCare FRC General Purpose Flux Remover, which is being discontinued. The new formulation provides electronics manufacturers and repair professionals with a versatile cleaning solution for benchtop and bulk applications, without hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).

“FRC2 builds on the cleaning performance customers have come to expect from FRC while providing an updated chemistry for today’s electronics manufacturing environment,” said Vince Libercci, MicroCare National Sales Manager. “It gives manufacturers a fast, easy-to-use way to remove flux without leaving residue or requiring a rinse.”

Powerful Flux Removal Without Rinsing
FRC2 is formulated to remove no-clean and rosin fluxes from a wide range of electronic assemblies, including through-hole, surface-mount technology (SMT) and ball grid array (BGA) circuit boards, hybrids, cables and connectors.

Its fast evaporation helps reduce processing time, while its residue-free performance eliminates the need for a secondary rinsing step. The cleaner is suitable for electronics assembly, rework, repair and maintenance operations.

Key benefits include:

  • Fast-drying performance: Helps streamline cleaning and reduce processing time.
  • Nonflammable formulation: Supports safe handling and use when following product directions.
  • Non-corrosive chemistry: Helps protect electronic components and assemblies.
  • No residue, no rinsing: Simplifies the cleaning process by eliminating a secondary rinse step.
  • ESD-safe: Suitable for use around sensitive electronic assemblies.
  • Broad material compatibility: Compatible with many commonly used materials, including epoxies, nylon, polyethylene and polypropylene. Consult product guidance to confirm suitability for specific materials.
  • Versatile applications: Supports benchtop cleaning and bulk cleaning operations.
  • Controlled aerosol application: Compatible with the MicroCare TriggerGrip™ Cleaning Tool for convenient, targeted dispensing.
FRC2 can be used on a variety of electronic components and materials, including surface-mount components, subject to application-specific compatibility requirements.

HFC-Free Chemistry for Electronics Manufacturing
FRC2 uses an HFC-free cleaning blend designed to deliver effective flux removal without hydrofluorocarbons. This formulation gives electronics manufacturers another option as they evaluate cleaning chemistries and respond to changing regulatory requirements and environmental considerations.

The product is also described as ozone-safe and has a medium global warming potential (GWP). Its combination of cleaning performance, fast drying and nonflammability makes it a practical option for electronics assembly, rework, repair and maintenance.

A Versatile Replacement for FRC
As the replacement for FRC General Purpose Flux Remover, FRC2 offers customers a transition to updated HFC-free chemistry while maintaining versatile flux-removal capabilities.

FRC2 is available in aerosol and bulk liquid formats to accommodate different cleaning needs. The aerosol is suited to benchtop rework, repair and maintenance, while the bulk liquid supports cold dip-and-wipe applications involving larger components, assemblies and production cleaning tasks. Multiple bulk package sizes accommodate different operational requirements.

MicroCare also offers compatible lint-free cleaning wipes to support electronics manufacturing and repair processes where controlled application and contamination management are important.
