Tyler Vander Ploeg Named Vice Chair of TIA Fiber Optics Technology Consortium

MicroCare is pleased to share that Tyler Vander Ploeg, Key Account Manager and long-time fiber-optic industry expert, has been elected Vice Chair of the TIA Fiber Optics Technology Consortium (FOTC). His election comes during a milestone year as the Consortium celebrates 32 years of supporting fiber-optic innovation and education.

The Fiber Optics Technology Consortium brings together technology leaders from across the fiber-optic ecosystem—including fiber, cable, connectivity, and test equipment manufacturers—to provide vendor-neutral education and guidance to the communications industry. Through webinars, white papers, industry presentations, and standards resources, the FOTC helps professionals better understand and deploy optical fiber technologies.

In his new role, Tyler will support the Consortium’s mission to educate the industry on the benefits of optical fiber, from improved network performance to long-term reliability and scalability. The FOTC’s work plays an important role in shaping best practices and advancing how fiber-optic technologies are adopted across enterprise and communications networks.

Tyler brings nearly 25 years of experience in fiber optics to this leadership position. His background includes a decade at VIAVI Solutions leading fiber-optic inspection product initiatives, followed by the last three years at MicroCare supporting customers across North America with Sticklers™ fiber-optic cleaning solutions. He is RCDD-certified and holds a Business Administration degree from Seattle Pacific University.

We congratulate Tyler on this well-deserved appointment and look forward to his continued leadership in advancing fiber-optic education and collaboration across the industry.
