MicroCare Celebrates Another Year of Success with All-Company Party
The Global Sales Meeting for MicroCare raced to an exciting conclusion with the announcement of 2017 sales awards winners at the annual awards banquet. But before the stars flew through the air onto the shoulders of five very special people, an enormous amount of work was accomplished in break-out groups, discussions and training.
An important aspect of the meeting was learning techniques to work better with others, and to learn how others perceive you. The morning workgroups were an effort to enhance the organizational dynamics. Laura Boyd, principle consultant at Leadership Delta, moderated these sessions. As Ms. Boyd noted, “Results are a function of the way we design our organizations… the integration of people with core business processes, technology, structure, and systems. A well-designed organization fits like a good suit of clothes. It ensures that the structure of the organization matches its purpose and strategy.”
Laura Boyd of Leadership Delta, a Minneapolis-based management consulting firm, helped MicroCare sales team work on issues related to communications and organizational structure.
Diane Massey, founder of the Berkshire School of Etiquette, offered a hands-on session focused on contemporary business protocol. The goal was to build self-confidence and self-awareness among the sales staff — not which fork to use, but the proper way to handle business cards and when to . Knowing the right protocol in a new situation, Diane suggests, provides people “a level of comfort so they can concentrate on what’s really important in the moment – engaging in meaningful conversations, leveraging business relationships and creating positive impressions.”

Every year MicroCare assembles all the employees and takes a photo of the entire team. This year it rained, so the photo was snapped at one of the three MicroCare factories where space was available. The team in the Critical Cleaning Lab grabbed their lab coats in prep for the photo. Additional hours were devoted to developing strategies and investment goals, helping the sales team guide top management on developments which will maximize growth, profits and return on the investments. “Nothing happens until a customer says ‘yes’,” noted Chris Jones, MicroCare President, as he coached the sales team. “Our sales and our profits are merely a scorecard that reflect how well we meet customers needs and expectations.”
All-Company Party
One eagerly-awaited event which is built around the Global Sales Meeting is the annual All-Company Party. This is a purely social event to which every employee in the company is invited. There’s a Red Carpet event, toasts and roasts, entertainment, and of course great food. For 2018, the All-Company Party was held at the elegant New Britain Museum of American Art, a very impressive facility which has been enhancing New Britain for more than a century. One of the highlights of the Party was a “scavenger hunt” which had teams of employees scurrying through the art displays, hunting for specific paintings. Again, the focus was on team-work and sharing information, which was the whole point of the Sales Meeting at large.
