Swellex™ is a silicone tubing swelling fluid which is a time-saving product from MicroCare Medical™. It is used to speed assembly of medical devices which require silicone tubing to be inserted over barbed fittings. When silicone tubing is immersed in the Swellex™ fluid, the tubing quickly softens and swells in a highly predictable manner. This makes assembly faster and easier when connecting thin wall tubing to barbed fittings. Once the tube is in place, the swelling fluid evaporates completely. Within minutes the tubing reverts to its original size, shape and strength, forming a tight, leak-proof grip over the barbed fitting.
