Uwe Wanner
Director of R&D & Laboratory Manager
Uwe Wanner - Chief Innovation Alchemist & Part-Time Artist
As the MicroCare Director of Research & Development and Laboratory Manager, Uwe Wanner operates comfortably in both hemispheres of the brain. With his left side, he drives the company’s Stage Gated innovation pipeline from ideation to commercialization. With his right hemisphere, he envisions what’s possible, evaluating new technologies, materials, and processes to expand the portfolio while leading customer-focused cleaning trials and technical projects. He joined MicroCare in 2026, drawn to its strong reputation and growth ambition, and quickly recognized a team proud of its successes and eagerness to win.
Uwe’s academic path reflects the same analytical-creative balance: a five-year degree in Chemistry from the University of Regensburg (Germany), a doctorate in Agricultural Sciences focused on the environmental behavior of man-made chemicals from the University of Bonn (Germany), and an MBA in Finance from Fairfield University’s Dolan School of Business. Science, environment, and business. Precision paired with perspective.
Uwe’s global career spans regulatory science, environmental risk assessment, laboratory leadership, and senior R&D roles at companies such as Chemtura, Arysta, and Drew Marine. He is especially proud of mentoring teams, filling an R&D project ‘hopper’ with 150+ sustaining & disruptive innovation ideas in three months, and leading complex regulatory and product development initiatives.
Guided by his motto, “Can Do - Hands On - Think Ahead”, Uwe values collaboration, contribution and proactive thinking. He also believes strongly in open dialogue, often quoting an old German proverb: “Only those who speak can be listened to.”
Outside the laboratory, Uwe’s right brain takes center stage. An avid skier and runner, he also creates watercolor “minARTures”, 3” x 4” reinterpretations of masterpieces by Monet, van Gogh, Warhol, and others, proving that precision and creativity are not opposites, but complements. A proud Bavarian, he appreciates good beer and enthusiastically participates in Munich’s Oktoberfest. He is also the proud father of a daughter building her career in London/UK and a son completing his pediatric residency in Denver/CO, both daily reminders that leadership and dedication extend far beyond the lab.
